Leading Japanese Imaging Technology Company | Japan to Europe

CHALLENGE
A leading Japanese technology company had developed advanced imaging capabilities
with strong applications in the consumer market and wanted to explore how the
technology could create new growth opportunities in B2B industries.
However, entering enterprise markets required more than adapting an existing product.
The client needed to identify where imaging technology could solve meaningful
business problems, how it could be integrated into existing industry workflows, and
which partners would be needed to deliver a complete solution.
The opportunity was to move beyond selling standalone imaging products and create a
scalable B2B business built around imaging, data and industry-specific services.
The key question was:
Which industries offered the strongest opportunity, what solutions could be
created around the technology, and how could the client build a scalable route to
market?
OUR SOLUTION
Trusted worked with the client to identify and validate new B2B applications for its imaging technology across the European market.
We evaluated opportunities across 10 industries, considering the fit between the
client's technology, industry challenges, potential value of the data generated, and
opportunities for integration into existing business processes.
Trusted then engaged relevant companies and industry stakeholders to explore
potential use cases and understand how the technology could create value in real
operating environments.
Through this process, insurance emerged as a strong initial market, with potential
applications including claims inspection, risk assessment and other data-driven
services.
Rather than approaching insurance companies only as customers, Trusted explored
how they could become partners and channels for a broader B2B offering.
The model positioned an insurance provider as an anchor partner, allowing the client's
imaging technology and related services to potentially reach the insurer's enterprise
customers across industries such as manufacturing, construction, energy, chemicals
and infrastructure.
This created a broader commercialization model:
Imaging Technology → Insurance Partner → Enterprise Customers → Data-Driven
Services
Trusted also explored how imaging data could support additional services around
inspection, operational monitoring, risk analysis and digital applications, creating
opportunities for the business to expand beyond the initial use case.
OUTCOME
The project established a pathway for the client to move from:
Standalone Imaging Products → Industry Solutions → B2B Platform → Cross-
Industry Expansion
The client gained:
A prioritized B2B market opportunity based on direct industry engagement
Priority use cases assessed with relevant industry stakeholders
A potential anchor partner and route to market through the insurance industry
A platform business model connecting imaging technology with data-driven services
Opportunities to reach enterprise customers across multiple industries
A clearer direction for further solution development and commercialization in Europe
The project helped reposition the client's imaging capabilities from a standalone product into the foundation of a broader B2B offering, with the potential to create value across multiple industries through partnerships and data-driven services.
