CHALLENGE

A leading Japanese marine company wanted to develop sustainable electric propulsion solutions for the European market and strengthen its position in the future of marine mobility.

The client had existing capabilities in the marine industry but needed complementary technologies to improve the performance and efficiency of its future electric propulsion solution.

The challenge was not simply to find promising technologies. The client needed to understand which solutions could meet its specific technical requirements, how they could complement its existing system, and whether their potential could be independently validated before moving toward testing and integration.

The key question was:

Which technologies could strengthen the client's electric propulsion solution, and which partners had the capabilities required to move toward testing and implementation?

OUR SOLUTION

Trusted worked with the client to define the technical and business requirements for the future electric marine solution and identify potential technology partners across Europe.

We engaged marine technology networks, industry clusters, accelerators, investors and specialized experts to identify technologies that matched the client's requirements.

Following an initial assessment, the direction was refined together with the client and 10 companies with strong potential were selected for further evaluation.

To add an independent validation layer, Trusted brought in specialized third-party experts to assess the selected technologies and provide unbiased feedback on their potential.

The process combined several perspectives:

The client assessed fit with its existing technology and future product requirements
Technology companies provided new capabilities for electric marine propulsion
Independent experts evaluated the potential of the technologies
Trusted assessed collaboration potential and brought the different parties together

Based on these assessments, Trusted developed a final shortlist of recommended partners for the client to progress toward the next stage.

Selected technologies were planned to move into testing and implementation within the client's existing solutions, with Trusted continuing to support the collaboration through the PoC stage and beyond.

The project helped the client move from identifying a need for external technology to building a validated group of partners capable of contributing to the development of its future electric marine propulsion solution.
