A leading European airport operator wanted to explore how emerging technologies, new services and cross-industry collaboration could help shape the next generation of airports and aviation.

The ambition was to look beyond incremental improvements to existing airport operations and explore new solutions that could redefine the passenger experience, airport services, sustainability and the way airports interact with surrounding cities and communities.

To develop this vision, the client wanted to access technologies and innovation partners outside its traditional European ecosystem, with Japan and Asia offering a strong combination of advanced technologies, major infrastructure operators and new approaches to mobility and urban development.

The next stage expanded the initiative further through a customized program in Japan involving major Japanese companies, government stakeholders and additional technology partners.

The project helped move the client from exploring future airport concepts to building the network of technologies, companies and infrastructure partners needed to develop and test new approaches to airports and aviation.
