Leading Japanese Technology Company | Japan to Europe

CHALLENGE
A leading Japanese technology company wanted to explore how its existing technology capabilities could be transformed into new business opportunities in Europe.
The client identified three potential growth areas across space and satellite communications, healthcare, and industrial decarbonization.
Each represented a significant opportunity, but also required the company to enter industries with different customers, market structures, regulations and technology requirements.
The challenge was not simply to find potential applications.
The client needed to determine where real market demand existed, which use cases had the strongest potential, who the future customers and partners could be, and what would be required to move each opportunity toward commercialization.
The key question was:
Which new market opportunities were strong enough to pursue, and how could the client validate them before committing significant resources to development?
OUR SOLUTION
Trusted designed a multi-market business validation initiative across the three opportunity areas.
For space and satellite communications, Trusted assessed the rapidly developing satellite communications market, identified potential applications for the client's technology and mapped the companies shaping the emerging ecosystem.
The validation included targeted outreach to 23 relevant industry stakeholders, including representatives from organizations such as Airbus, Beyond Gravity, Eutelsat, Honeywell and SpaceX.
For healthcare, Trusted evaluated where the client's technology could address unmet needs in the European healthcare system.
Potential applications were assessed across environments including pharmacies, health kiosks, primary-care clinics and home healthcare, alongside regulatory requirements, competing solutions and potential routes to market.
For industrial decarbonization, Trusted assessed how the client's technology capabilities could address emerging European opportunities around CO₂ capture and sustainability.
The project mapped relevant European companies, startups, R&D initiatives and emerging applications across areas including CO₂ capture and sustainable aviation fuel.
Across the three areas, Trusted combined market assessment, use-case validation, ecosystem development and external stakeholder engagement to identify the opportunities with the strongest potential for further development.
OUTCOME
The project created a pathway from:
Existing Technology → Market Opportunity → Use-Case Validation → Stakeholder Engagement → Commercialization Pathway
The client gained:
Three new business opportunities evaluated across space, healthcare and industrial decarbonization
Priority applications for entering new European markets
Direct access to relevant industry ecosystems and potential partners
Targeted outreach to 23 stakeholders in the space and satellite sector
Engagement with major global aerospace and satellite organizations
Potential customer environments and market-entry pathways in healthcare
New opportunities around CO₂ capture and sustainability
Greater understanding of regulatory, competitive and commercialization requirements
A structured pathway for progressing selected opportunities toward further MVP validation
The project helped the client move from having promising technologies to understanding which market problems were worth solving, which stakeholders could help validate them, and where to focus resources for future business development.
