CHALLENGE
A global luxury automotive manufacturer was exploring how the next generation of
luxury vehicles could redefine the driving experience and set a new standard for future
mobility.
The client was looking beyond traditional automotive technologies. Its vision required
new capabilities across more than 50 technology areas, combining advances in
mobility, materials, electronics, digital technologies, sustainability and other emerging
fields.
Many of the technologies with the potential to contribute to this vision were being
developed outside the client's existing ecosystem, particularly across Japan, Korea and
other Asian markets.
The challenge was to identify which technologies could meaningfully contribute to the
future vehicle, understand how they could be applied, and engage the companies
behind them to explore potential integration and development.
The key question was:
Which emerging technologies could help define the next standard of luxury
mobility, and which companies could become development partners in bringing
that vision to life?
OUR SOLUTION
Trusted worked with the client's development team to translate its vision for the future
luxury vehicle into a structured technology and partner development project.
The engagement began with an onsite workshop to understand the vehicle concept,
development priorities and requirements across more than 50 technology fields.
Trusted then built a technology ecosystem around these requirements, identifying
relevant capabilities across startups, SMEs, established companies and specialized
technology providers in Japan and other Asian markets.
Potential technologies were assessed based on their relevance to the future vehicle,
potential application and fit with the client's development objectives.
Across five review cycles, Trusted presented 30 selected technologies, each
accompanied by an assessment of how the technology could potentially contribute to
the vehicle and where collaboration could be explored.
The client selected nine companies for direct engagement.
Trusted brought the selected companies into discussions with the client's development
team to explore:
Potential applications within the future vehicle
Technical and development requirements
Fit with the client's future mobility vision
Opportunities for technology integration
Potential collaboration and development pathways
The process allowed the client to move from exploring emerging technologies to
engaging directly with the companies capable of contributing to future vehicle
development.
